What it is

A purpose-designed set of tools provided to basket makers under the PM Vishwakarma Scheme to enhance productivity, workmanship quality, and operational efficiency. The toolkit is supported through a government toolkit incentive of up to ₹15,000, issued as an e-voucher.

Registered basket makers, recognised as a valid trade under the PM Vishwakarma Scheme, who successfully complete the prescribed basic skill training are eligible for the toolkit incentive.

To enable artisans to transition from basic traditional implements to a balanced combination of traditional and improved tools that support better craftsmanship, faster output, and consistent quality.

Artisans receive an e-voucher (up to ₹15,000) that can be used to procure an approved Basket Maker Toolkit from designated suppliers after commencement of training.

The toolkit generally consists of essential basket-making tools such as:

  • Cutting tools for bamboo, cane, reed, and similar materials
  • Measuring and marking instruments
  • Binding and weaving aids
  • Tool bag or organiser for safe storage and portability
